Welcome to PDBF
Welcome to the website of Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF), one of the leading Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) of government sector in Bangladesh. PDBF has been working relentlessly to reduce poverty since its inception in 2000. PDBF operates microfinance loan along with Small Enterprise Loan (SEL) to enhance economic capacity of the rural disadvantaged peoples. The formal banking sector in developing countries, like Bangladesh, does not typically provide financial services to the rural underprivilege poor or rural disadvantaged people. This sector concentrates on large loans to the upper class, thereby completely excludes low income groups. The microfinance movement, however, has shown that there is a thriving market among the poor when financial products cater to their specific needs. The poor are a quite active group in any economy. PDBF has shown that their needs can be met while at the same time making to providing institution profitable as well. Up to June 2014 PDBF's cumulative Loan disbursement has been TK. 6656 cr. while loan outstanding is TK. 4180.00 million & total savings is 288.96 cr among 0.70 million borrowers. At the end of 2014 PDBF Financial Self-sufficiency (FSS) 100% and rate of loan recovery 99%.
PDBF continues to perfect the role of financial intermediation by developing a variety of other products that are quite successful at generating necessary funds from local sources. This helps the poor to shield themselves against risks. Up to June 2014 PDBF Solar program has been covered 128 upazilas and installed 33,700 unit Solar Home System (SHS) in the rural areas of Bangladesh. Daily power generation is 7,200 KW/hr. This coverage is a must to meet the target of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Micro credit Summit Campaign (MSC). I hope this website will be helpful for you to know about PDBF in-depth.I welcome all of you who are interested in Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF).
